Clemente Padin (Uruguay)

Clemente Padin is an internationally recognised artist from Montevideo in Uruguay. His first contact with mail art movement was back in 1967 and since then he organised and contributed to many national and international projects. For his opposition to the Uruguayan dictatorship (1973-1984), he spent two years in jail, and only after 1984 he was able to resume his artistic and literary work freely. Has participated in numerous art exhibitions and more than 2.000 exhibitions of mail art around the world. He exhibited in one-man shows in the United States, Italy, Korea, Argentina, Uruguay, Germany, Spain, Belgium and Japan.

Clemente is also a well-known poet, performer, video and multimedia artist. He has published in magazines and other international publications. It has been translated into many languages, including English, Portuguese, French, Italian, Hungarian, Dutch, German and Russian.
