Mary Rouncefield is an artist and printmaker who lives and works in Bristol, UK. She’s working in drawing, textiles, screen printing and 3D art. Mary has always been interested in the mathematics and often she incorporates various mathematical graphs or patterns in her work. She also uses the symbol of a corset as a metaphor for the mental discipline imposed by mathematics. Mary says: “The end result, for the mathematician, will often be elegant, concise and beautiful, but to achieve that, she/he must conform to the conventions and logic of their subject.”
Mary sent us two prints – “The Joy of Yoga” and “The Joy of Mathematics (Quadratic Boots)”. To see more about Mary Rouncefield’s art please visit her website.
